Employment Law Associate (3+ Years Experience)
Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid – approx. 60% in-office)
Firm: Mintz
Salary Range: $260,000 – $390,000
Mintz is seeking an Employment Law Associate with 3+ years of experience to join the firm’s expanding Employment, Labor & Benefits practice in San Diego. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of employment law matters while collaborating with a highly experienced and supportive team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in employment litigation, counseling, and compliance work, along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities- Handle all aspects of employment litigation, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leaves of absence, wage and hour, non-compete, and breach of contract matters
- Represent clients before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies
- Provide day-to-day employment and HR-related counseling to employers
- Draft employment policies and agreements, including employee handbooks, employment agreements, and separation agreements
- Conduct internal workplace investigations
- Deliver employment-related compliance training to clients
- Collaborate closely with attorneys and staff across the firm to support client needs
Collaboration is a key part of the culture and are expected to work approximately 60% in-office

- JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school
- Admitted to practice, or eligible for admission, in California
- Minimum of three years of employment law experience
- Experience in employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies
- Background advising employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Strong experience drafting employment policies and agreements
- Experience conducting workplace investigations
- Ability to deliver effective employment-related compliance trainings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment
