Settlement Attorney (Remote in California)
Salary: $125,000–$175,000 DOE
A growing plaintiff‑focused law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Settlement Team supporting high‑volume wildfire litigation. This role is pivotal in guiding cases through the settlement process, ensuring procedural compliance, and helping clients obtain meaningful compensation after catastrophic losses. The position may be performed fully remote within California or hybrid from a local office.
- Support and help lead settlement operations for a large wildfire practice, including mentoring attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
- Draft, review, and finalize settlement agreements, releases, minors’ compromises, and related filings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal and procedural requirements.
- Oversee implementation of settlement terms, including timelines, disbursements, documentation, and compliance obligations.
- Ensure adherence to California laws, court rules, and ethical requirements related to settlement administration and fund distribution.
- Conduct legal research to inform strategy, negotiations, and procedural compliance matters.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to streamline workflows, improve processes, and incorporate legal technology solutions.
- Communicate with clients to explain timelines, requirements, and next steps with clarity and empathy.
- Juris Doctor from an ABA‑accredited law school.
- Active California Bar license (required).
- Minimum 5 years of litigation experience; settlement experience preferred.
- Prior team leadership or supervisory experience is helpful but not required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe; familiarity with legal technology platforms such as Filevine, PACER, Lexis, Everlaw, or similar tools.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
