IP Legal Assistant

Overview

We’re seeking an experienced IP Legal Assistant to support attorneys in a busy intellectual property practice. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of U.S. patent prosecution experience and strong knowledge of USPTO procedures.

• Preparing and filing U.S. patent applications, Office Action responses, and related USPTO documents
• Managing docket reports and coordinating proactively with attorneys and agents
• Updating case status reports and IP schedules; sending deadline reminders (Pattsywave or similar)
• Communicating directly with clients regarding filings and prosecution updates
• Processing USPTO correspondence, mail, and file transfers
• Providing general administrative and patent prosecution support, including calendars and expense reports

• Knowledge of U.S. and PCT patent rules and procedures
• Understanding of the patent lifecycle from pre-filing through issuance
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• 3–5 years of U.S. patent prosecution experience in a law firm
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
