Overview
We’re seeking an experienced IP Legal Assistant to support attorneys in a busy intellectual property practice. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of U.S. patent prosecution experience and strong knowledge of USPTO procedures.
Responsibilities- Preparing and filing U.S. patent applications, Office Action responses, and related USPTO documents
- Managing docket reports and coordinating proactively with attorneys and agents
- Updating case status reports and IP schedules; sending deadline reminders (Pattsywave or similar)
- Communicating directly with clients regarding filings and prosecution updates
- Processing USPTO correspondence, mail, and file transfers
- Providing general administrative and patent prosecution support, including calendars and expense reports
- Knowledge of U.S. and PCT patent rules and procedures
- Understanding of the patent lifecycle from pre-filing through issuance
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- 3–5 years of U.S. patent prosecution experience in a law firm
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
