Litigation Paralegal – Labor & Employment Defense
Direct Counsel is partnering with a top California law firm looking to add an experienced Litigation Paralegal to its Labor & Employment Group. This is a role for someone who thrives in complex litigation, takes pride in precision, and wants to be deeply embedded in cases that shape workplace law across the state.
This team represents corporations, public entities, nonprofits, and public-private partnerships in some of the most nuanced and high-exposure employment matters in California—from class actions and PAGA claims to workplace investigations and labor negotiations.

You won’t just support litigation—you’ll drive it. From first filing through trial and appeal, you’ll be a core member of the litigation team, trusted with responsibility, strategy, and execution.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing cases from inception through resolution (trial or settlement)
- Drafting, reviewing, and revising litigation documents and filings
- Maintaining case files, discovery logs, and document databases
- Managing large-scale discovery and document productions
- Preparing deposition and hearing materials, including exhibits and witness outlines
- Cite-checking briefs for legal and factual accuracy
- Coordinating document review and partnering with Litigation Support on eDiscovery platforms (iPro or similar)
- Supporting trial preparation and post-trial proceedings
- Working closely with attorneys across all stages of state and federal litigation
The Work You’ll Support
This practice handles sophisticated labor & employment defense matters, including:
- Class actions & PAGA
- Discipline, terminations & leaves of absence
- Disability accommodations & employee privacy
- Whistle blower and retaliation claims
- Workplace culture, social media & free speech issues
- Labor relations and collective bargaining matters
What You Bring
- Ability to work and bill as a paralegal under CA Business & Professions Code § 6450
- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program
- 5+ years of litigation experience (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Strong command of Microsoft Office / Office 365
- Hands-on experience with iPro or comparable eDiscovery tools and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Legal research experience using Westlaw (preferred) or Lexis
- Deep understanding of court procedures, rules, and local practice
- Ability to work independently while collaborating seamlessly with attorneys and litigation support
- Excellent communication skills and an unwavering commitment to confidentiality and ethics
- 1,575 billable hours annually
- Willingness to work extended hours when cases demand it
- Occasional travel for hearings, depositions, or trial support
- Consistent, reliable on-site attendance and a strong client-service mindset
Compensation
- $48.07 – $54.32 per hour (estimated range)
- Final pay based on experience, location, education, certifications, and internal equity
