The Role
The Principal Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer serves as the senior technical authority responsible for designing, modernizing, and optimizing enterprise-scale Azure-centric cloud environments integrated with AWS and on-premises infrastructure. This role drives large-scale platform transformations including workload migration, infrastructure consolidation, automation-first provisioning, cost optimization, GxP-aware cloud environments, and performance engineering across hybrid architectures. The position requires deep expertise in Azure cloud engineering, strong AWS experience, and hands-on integration with VMware virtualization, enterprise storage, identity systems (AD/Azure AD), networking, and scientific compute platforms.
The Principal Engineer defines platform strategy, establishes architectural standards, leads complex cross-functional programs, and ensures secure, compliant, highly available, and cost-efficient operations across the enterprise.
Your Contributions (include, But Are Not Limited To)
- Lead large-scale technology infrastructure consolidation, virtualization, and cloud migration initiatives.
- Drive automation-first engineering using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, Cloud Formation) across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Design and implement API-driven, self-service provisioning platforms integrated with Service Now and identity systems.
- Lead cloud cost optimization and Fin Ops initiatives across Azure and AWS, including savings strategies and governance controls.
- Architect and optimize VMware platforms with high availability, disaster recovery, and footprint reduction strategies.
- Design scalable storage architectures across Azure, AWS (S3, FSx), and on-prem Net App with automated tiering and lifecycle management.
- Enable secure, on-demand compute platforms supporting containerized workloads (Docker/Kubernetes) and advanced analytics use cases.
- Implement identity-driven access models using AD/Azure AD with policy-based provisioning and role-based controls.
- Design and implement hybrid connectivity models including Express Route, VPN, SD-WAN, private endpoints, and secure access solutions.
- Integrate security, compliance, and regulatory best practices (including GxP-aware environments) into hybrid architectures.
- Build enterprise observability frameworks including performance, reliability, utilization, and cost dashboards to drive operational excellence.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 6+ years of infrastructure engineering experience with 4+ years focused on AWS
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 4+ years of experience as listed above
