Product Designer, Product Engineer
Senior Product Designer – Physical & Digital Experience
Open role for a senior designer who owns end‑to‑end product experience across industrial design and UI/UX for a tightly integrated hardware + software product.
About the RoleYou’ll shape how the product looks, feels, and behaves—from enclosure geometry and button placement to screen flows, data hierarchy, and interaction logic. Work closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and product teams to make fast, defensible design decisions that ship.
What You’ll Do Physical Product & Industrial Design- Lead industrial design from early concepts through production intent
- Define form factor, layout, CMF, and physical interaction points (buttons, ports, cameras, LEDs, vents, etc.)
- Collaborate with mechanical engineering on manufacturability, tolerances, thermal, optical, and ergonomic constraints
- Produce sketches, models, and CAD direction sufficient for engineering execution
- Participate in EVT/DVT/PVT reviews with a strong design voice
- Own the on‑device and companion UI/UX experience
- Design information architecture, screen flows, and interaction models
- Translate complex data into clear, usable visual hierarchies
- Prototype interactions (low and high fidelity) to validate usability early
- Define how physical inputs (buttons, gestures, orientation) map to software behavior
- Act as the single point of accountability for experience quality
- Ensure physical and digital design decisions reinforce each other
- Make trade‑offs when constraints collide (cost, schedule, performance)
- Advocate for the user while understanding engineering and business realities
- 7+ years of experience in product design, with shipped hardware products
- Proven experience spanning both industrial design of physical products and UI/UX design for embedded, mobile, or desktop interfaces
- Strong understanding of human factors & ergonomics, manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC, assembly), and usability principles for data‑dense interfaces
- Ability to communicate fluently with engineers and make technically grounded design decisions
- Portfolio showing real, shipped products where you owned both physical and digital experience
- Experience with small displays or single‑screen devices
- Experience in consumer electronics, instruments, medical, automotive, or industrial products
- Comfort working in fast‑moving, resource‑constrained teams
- Familiarity with EVT/DVT/PVT product cycles
- Not a pure industrial designer
- Not a pure UX/UI designer
- Not a visual stylist disconnected from engineering
- Not a committee‑driven design role
- Industrial: sketching, CAD (Solid Works, Rhino, Fusion, etc.)
- UX/UI:
Figma, prototyping tools - Whatever helps you think clearly and communicate effectively
Our product experience depends on tight integration between hardware and software. Splitting ownership slows decisions and degrades quality. This role ensures coherence, speed, and excellence from concept to production.
Success Looks Like- Products that feel intentional, not stitched together
- Fewer late‑stage usability surprises
- Faster alignment between design and engineering
- Users who “get it” instantly when they pick it up
