Overview
IT support technicians perform various functions to keep computer systems in top working condition. Under general supervision, administers day to day operations of local Personal Computer systems and servers. Provides integrated support, maintenance, upgrades and repairs of all computers for assigned locations as required. P.C. Installation and upgrades of P.C. software and network-based applications. Installation and setup of business production line solutions.
Keeps up with the latest hardware, operating systems, and off-the-shelf software packages and technologies. May function as technical project leader on business projects.
- Provide technical support to employees via phone, email, remote access, or in person.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and application issues.
- Install, configure, and upgrade PCs, operating systems, and network-based applications.
- Perform scheduled system maintenance to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Assess hardware and software needs and recommend improvements or upgrades.
- Repair or replace faulty computer and network components.
- Support and operate IT equipment including printers, smartboards, external storage devices, and diagnostic tools.
- Educate employees on best practices to resolve or prevent recurring technical issues.
- Communicate technical solutions in clear, non-technical language.
- Act as a liaison between the IT department and Lorian employees to ensure effective support delivery.
- Assist with the development and implementation of IT procedures to reduce system downtime.
- Prepare and present reports to management regarding IT support activities and system performance.
- Design, develop, and maintain applications or websites as assigned.
- Participate in IT projects and may serve as a technical lead on assigned initiatives.
- Attend training, workshops, and educational programs to stay current with evolving technologies and industry best practices.
- Associate’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field preferred.
- 1–2 years of IT support or help desk experience preferred.
- Able to use clear language and expression to provide technical support to employees.
- Well versed in providing IT solutions to address the needs of employees.
- Willingness to travel between multiple branch locations to provide on-site IT support as needed.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools and to handle other computer components.
- Occasional inspection of cables in floors, ceilings, or confined spaces.
- Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy equipment such as computers, monitors, and peripherals.
