Position: 1319286 Systems Analyst

This individual is responsible for proactively identifying technology opportunities that impact corporate business strategies and performance. Senior level professionals may work on special projects with top-level management of a specific business area and build consensus on IT investment decisions with executives in IT, Finance and other corporate functions.

Business Systems Analysis professionals educate project team members on business unit goals and objectives and educate the business on the value of information technology. Through excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to translate between technical and business language, they work collaboratively, negotiating requirements across multiple groups. Finally they must have an understanding of the overall IT architecture of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Works with business partners across multiple business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies.
  • Supports one or more highly complex business processes, requiring design or integration of technical solutions that may cross multiple functions of the business.
  • Works independently with minimal direction. Serves as a project team member or may lead teams.
  • Provides process improvement recommendations.
  • Lead project team members through the process of developing and maintaining requirements from analysis to deployment.
  • Participates in short- and long-term development planning sessions with clients to improve business processes. Generally involves using and improving information systems. Documents discussion and agreements.
  • Assesses client needs utilizing a structured process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to translate business requirements and recommend options, risks and cost vs. benefits.
  • May provide input to cost/time estimates.
  • Analyze business processes to derive, develop and document requirements.
  • Possess creative problem solving skills for refinement of business processes and requirements.
  • Develops, writes, and communicates business requirements for the design and implementation of business solutions. Obtains technical assistance to help in identifying technical solutions.
  • Responsible for the collection, analysis, design and documentation of functional requirements.
  • Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, independence, feasibility, traceability and testability.
  • Presents business and functional requirements documentation for review and sign-off.
  • Strong understanding of change control for requirement artifacts.
  • Ensures traceability between business and functional requirements is complete and accurate.
  • Works with business clients and technology management to prioritize delivery of business and functional requirements.
  • Works with developers to ensure that functional requirements are implemented completely and appropriately.
  • Works with quality assurance team to ensure functional requirement coverage of test plans and procedures.
  • Coordinates feasibility studies and proposals for evaluation by appropriate users and managers. May assist in the RFP process by preparing the technology requirements documentation and participating in the evaluation and selection of products/services.
  • Investigates, resolves and escalates problems. Monitors and analyzes defects and/or metrics to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates and facilitates work sessions with business partners and appropriate IT groups.
  • Documents minutes from technology work sessions.
  • Participates in technical design, testing and architecture work sessions.
  • All other duties as assigned

Experience:

  • 5 or more years of relevant technical and business work experience with systems analysis or application programming development.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science/MIS, Business Management or the equivalent of education and work experience.
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies.
  • Must have experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software solutions.
  • Must possess well-developed analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, as well as outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

    Must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
