Summary
The Test Engineer II/Systems Engineer II supports the planning, execution, and documentation of verification and validation activities to ensure PMW 790 STACC systems meet operational, functional, and cybersecurity standards prior to Fleet release. This role collaborates with developers, system administrators, and cybersecurity teams to maintain quality, interoperability, and compliance throughout the system lifecycle.
Location: San Diego, CA | Norfolk, VA | Charleston, SC | Pearl Harbor, HI | Panama City, FL
Clearance: Secret (eligible for TS/SCI)
Responsibilities- Develop detailed test plans, procedures, and scripts aligned to system requirements, interface specifications, and design documentation.
- Conduct system integration testing, end-to-end (E2E) testing, and site acceptance tests in laboratory or pre-production environments.
- Identify, document, and track software or configuration defects through resolution; maintain issue and test metrics in Jira or similar tools.
- Perform regression, performance, and interoperability testing across multiple system baselines.
- Support validation of cybersecurity controls, patch verification, and compliance testing for ATO sustainment.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and Dev Sec Ops teams to ensure test coverage across development pipelines.
- Produce comprehensive test reports, data summaries, and recommendations for configuration or process improvements.
- Assist with automation of routine test scenarios and development of reusable test frameworks or scripts.
- Participate in technical reviews, configuration control boards, and readiness assessments.
- Maintain Dev/Test environments, perform integration and end-to-end testing of platform builds, and ensure test results, defect reports, and automation outputs are properly tracked and published in Jira and Confluence for release validation.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with Agile Dev Sec Ops test environments.
- Experience with Navy or DoD lab-based testing, including validation of configuration baselines and patching processes, is preferred.
- Familiarity with DoD testing frameworks and CI/CD tools.
- 4+ years of integration/test experience.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team; ready for occasional travel or onsite support as required.
- Proven problem-solving abilities with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills: able to explain technical issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
