Role Description

This is a full-time,
on-site Payroll Coordinator role based in San Diego, CA. The Payroll Coordinator will handle the day-to-day operations of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal regulations. Responsibilities include managing employee timekeeping data, preparing payroll by verifying accuracy and calculating wages, handling payroll-related inquiries, maintaining employee records. The ideal candidate will have experience with prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon wage determination.

Responsibilities
  • Calculate and process timecards and corrections, including calculating overtime, deductions, per diems, subsistence, fringe benefits etc. in accordance with company policies and State, Federal and Union laws.
  • Manage & ensure employee data is correct in the payroll system, such as hours worked, new hire information, employee changes, promotions, deductions, etc.
  • Administering regulatory requirements (e.g., garnishments, tax levies, support orders, and other adjustments to payroll as necessary)
  • Process irregular, off cycle and manual checks, to include but not limited to, separation payments, severance agreement payments, litigation agreement payments, in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Daily update of payroll records and process routine changes to employee records.
  • Review of timecards every Monday to verify everything is correct and for final review by the payroll specialist.
  • Serve as liaison with ADP to help managers and employees with any questions/issues regarding ADP and to meet payroll deadlines.
  • Trains new hires on job coding, transfers, clocking in and out rules.
  • Ensure that the regular and prevailing wage/certified payroll is processed accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Verifying that sick leave and vacation balances are accrued and deducted with 100% accuracy for each pay cycle.
  • Assists with time clock issues/entries
  • Reconcile/audit W-2s at year end
  • Trains new employees to use ADP clock in and out, transfers, job coding, time off submittal, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of payroll experience.
  • Experience with prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon wage determination, Preferred
  • Knowledge of the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) rules and regulations, Preferred
  • Experience with ADP payroll system, Preferred
  • Experience in maritime industry is a plus
  • High level of integrity; ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Able to exercise maturity and sound judgment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, self-motivated, and proactive with the ability to execute tasks with minimal instruction
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with strict timelines
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a cohesive, results-oriented team
  • Computer Literacy advanced MS Office/Excel skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including process, procedure, and manuals
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Proper heat/cold tolerance, working in all weather conditions
  • Exposure to prolonged periods of sitting and keyboard input
  • Ability to work on a moving and uneven platform
Compensation and Benefits

$26.00-$30.00/Hr.
