Overview
Naph Care is hiring a PRN Psychiatrist to join our team of medical professionals in San Diego County Jail located in San Diego, CA
.
Pay rates range from $225.00 - $237.50/hour
. As a Correctional Psychiatrist
, you will oversee clinical responsibility for the mental health programs within the facility, working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals. This is a position where you can make a difference for a diverse population with complex mental health needs.
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions for facility residents, protecting rights, dignity, and health
- Provide medication management, therapy, and other evidence-based treatment plans
- Oversee mental health screenings and evaluations performed by others
- Respond to acute mental health crises within the facility
- Support rehabilitation and facilitate patient transition back into the community
- Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training related to mental health care
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals) to develop and implement treatment plans and ensure staff responsiveness to patient needs
Education / Licenses / Certifications
- Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Psychiatrist in CA
- A current DEA registration in CA
- Valid CPR card
- Board certification recognized by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer skills
Experience / Requirements / Skills
- Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders
- Strong communication skills with diverse individuals (medical professionals, correctional staff, and judges)
- Ability to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plans
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
- Professional integrity and adherence to Code of Conduct and facility correctional healthcare policies
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk long distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR, while maintaining balance and endurance.
