Direct Support Professional - ARTS Program

Overview

Position Summary

A Direct Support Professional works as scheduled by the Regional Manager and/or his/her designee. Overtime may be required as dictated by operational needs; however, no holiday or overtime may be worked without prior approval of the Direct Support Professional's supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the client’s inclusion in positive community experiences. Transport clients to appointments, community activities, or other locations as needed, ensuring safety and timeliness during travel.
• Maintain current knowledge of client’s needs. Maintain positive communications and relationships with supervisor, clients, landlords, employers, involved family members, Regional Center, D.O.R., and other individuals in the community.
• Participate in the evaluation of the client through completion of task analysis and other requested assessment devices.
• Implement individual training and support programs under the direction of the case responsible person.
• Document required activity records, reports, incidents, and client evaluations in a timely, complete, and accurate manner as required.
• Promote independence in daily activities while supporting clients with intellectual and physical disabilities; assist with meals, cooking, household maintenance, grooming, and dressing as assigned.
• Address challenging behaviors proactively and respectfully, using methods outlined in plans and training.
• Oversee client activities and the environment throughout shift to ensure health and safety needs are met; provide direct service as needed.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older. Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Insured, registered vehicle in safe working condition, and proof of current CA driver’s license.
• Schedule:
  
  Part or full time, depending on client needs and Adjoin.
• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Compliance:
  Physical evaluations may be required dependent on duties and compliance requirements and may include a TB test and/or a lift and transfer test.
• Aptitude for confidentiality, organizational skills and good interpersonal skills.
• Mobility:
  Must have a mobile smart device available to perform required functions; reasonable reimbursement provided.
• Travel:
  Ability to travel within the counties served at least 75% of the time.
• Certification:
  Certification in First Aid and CPR or successful completion within 45 days of hire.
