Overview
We are looking for qualified Psychiatrists for a contract role in San Diego, California.
This contract position is for the Health Services Unit at Metropolitan Correctional Center, San Diego County. The selected candidate will perform two (2) one-hour sessions during the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month. Services are to include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities- Diagnosing and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
- Organizes date concerning patient, family, personal, medical and mental history.
- Determines the onset of symptoms obtained from patients and other sources to determine the type of treatment needed.
- Order laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained.
- Determines the nature and extent of mental disorder and formulate a treatment plan.
- The contractor shall be responsible for submitting written reports, evaluations, and /or plans of treatment for all patients evaluated. These reports shall be in type – written form, verified by the contactor’s signature.
- Will be responsible for utilizing the Bureau Electronic Medical Records System (BEMR) and completing all encounters within the System to include all applicable Axes, MH diagnosis, medications and follow-up timeframe.
- Shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions.
- Must have the ability to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
- Will assist the Heath Services Administrator (HSA) in the maintenance of equipment and supplies and notify him/her when supplies are needed.
- The ideal candidate must possess certification for the National Board of Psychiatry
- Current license to practice this specialty in the state of California
- Graduated from an AMA recognized school of medicine
- Member in good standing with their professional specialty organizations
- Be able to provide proof of malpractice insurance that covers his/her practice in the Federal Bureau of Prisons, specifically, MCC San Diego.
