Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $53.570 - $69.120 - $77.410

This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.

This position was originally posted to ratified SEIU members from 1/21/26 – 1/29/26. The position is now available to be filled by internal candidates that are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit or External candidates to Sharp.

What You Will Do

The Cardiac Sonographer is a highly skilled healthcare professional responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the heart, with a specialized focus on neonatal and fetal patients. This role requires advanced knowledge of pediatric and prenatal cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology, as well as proficiency in operating sophisticated echo cardiographic equipment. The cardiac sonographer collaborates closely with pediatric cardiologists, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and other healthcare providers to acquire high-quality images that aid in the diagnosis and management of congenital heart conditions.

The position demands precision, compassion, and the ability to work effectively in high-stress environments such as neonatal intensive care units (NICUs).

Required Qualifications
  • Other Satisfactory completion of a formal Cardiovascular Technology training program in an AMA approved school and meets the requirement of an appropriate State and/or Federal mandated certification or equivalent.
  • 1 Year experience performing echocardiography procedures.
  • Experience performing echocardiography procedures on neonatal patients.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association
    -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 50 neonatal echocardiograms performed without supervision.
  • Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International
    -PREFERRED
Other Qualification Requirements
  • Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) specialty from American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - REQUIRED

  • Department Improvement
    Supports and may facilitate departmental performance improvement initiatives. Identifies problems and implements appropriate actions to improve departmental operations and/or quality of care. Trains new employees and students, as requested. Provides ongoing educational support to work group with documentation of attendees. Provides written recommendations for cost reduction and department improvements. Ensures cleanliness and adequate stocking in exam and work areas. Demonstrates flexibility and is responsive to department staffing needs.

    Attends and actively participates in departmental in-services and management meetings. Monitors completion of assigned staff duties.
  • Patient Care
    Monitors and evaluates exam quality and procedures. Checks/completes patient name bands, physician orders, consent forms and prescriptions. Follows department/hospital infection control guidelines. Explains procedure to patient prior to exam. Assures physical and psychological patient needs are met. Initiates proper response to emergent situations. Demonstrates knowledge of patient care standards.
