$17.00/hr – $19.00/hr

Role Description

Title: Support Specialist
Classification: Non‑Exempt
Role: Residential/community‑based care, support & training provider to clients with developmental disabilities. Reports to Service Support Coordinator.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Minimum 12 months direct support experience in residential or community‑based setting, working with people with developmental disabilities, behavior challenges, psychiatric diagnoses, or medical involvement.

Certifications: Current CPR/First Aid Certification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with clients in compliance with legislation, Aya Living’s philosophy, policies, practices and contractual requirements.
  • Promote client equality, diversity, choice and rights.
  • Develop professional relationships and maintain effective communication with clients and relevant parties.
  • Obtain client information, assess needs and contribute to planning and delivery of service agreements.
  • Keep accurate records of work and communication, preserving confidentiality.
  • Protect individuals from abuse and report incidents appropriately.
  • Promote, monitor and maintain client health, safety and security at home and in the community.
  • Administer first aid and medication as required.

  • Domestic care techniques including personal hygiene, cooking and cleaning.
  • Social care techniques, conflict resolution and wheelchair operation.

Job Specifics
  • Assist and support all aspects of client daily living and activity choices.
  • Implement and follow through on service agreements.
  • Provide information, advice, guidance and support on personal issues and life choices.
  • Advocate for individuals and pursue their rights.
  • Liaise with client’s team as needed.
  • Attend individual program plan and interim meetings as directed.
  • Complete data collection and daily documentation.
  • Ensure client access to nutritious food.
  • Refer client symptoms of illness to physician and support team coordinator promptly.
  • Follow Adult Protective Services reporting guidelines.
  • Abide by company policy, federal, and state laws regarding confidentiality.
  • Maintain effective communication with all relevant parties.
  • Provide clean clothing, sanitary supplies, and laundry facilities to clients.
  • Provide transportation as specified.
  • Accompany clients to appointments and activities.
  • Assist with budgeting and company purchases, providing receipts.
  • Advocate and demonstrate respect for client human and civil rights.
  • Assist with home exterior and lawn maintenance per neighborhood standards.
  • Assist with interior maintenance, liaise with landlords regarding repairs, and report solutions.
  • Assist with hygiene and domestic operations if client is unable or refuses.
  • Communicate with day program services politely.
  • Administer medication as specified or required.
  • Assist with meal and snack provision as scheduled.
  • Prepare administrative reports and maintain documentation.
  • Engage in job training and personal development as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Support Team Coordinator or Director.
