Who We Are Looking For

Purpose:

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) has primary responsibility for building key opinion leader (KOL) partnerships by engaging in the exchange of scientific data and medical information with external stakeholders in pulmonary hypertension (PH) and interstitial lung disease (ILD)-PH across the aligned geography. The role involves establishing and maintaining educational and research collaborations, delivering clinical, scientific, and technical education, and building long-term peer-to-peer relationships with stakeholders, including academic medical centers.

The successful candidate will communicate complex scientific information to healthcare decision makers, including those at academic medical centers. Candidates should live in or near select Southwestern US states; other nearby cities may be considered.

Main Responsibilities
  • Scientific Exchange, advice seeking and clinical development support:
    • Build external KOL partnerships with recognized community and academic medical centers to identify scientific needs and track current scientific trends.
    • Identify and develop key thought leaders for medical education, clinical research and publication opportunities.
    • Cultivate existing and new KOL relationships for advisory boards, company-sponsored studies, investigator-initiated research, and speaker development.
    • Provide KOL feedback to field managers and teams to elevate the customer voice within the organization.
    • Provide medical support and scientific education to HCPs at key institutions.
    • Offer field-based medical and scientific support for unsolicited questions in PAH and ILD-PH therapeutic areas.
    • Foster professional relationships within an assigned geography and identify cross-functional engagement opportunities.
    • Identify opportunities and needs related to real-world evidence within the therapeutic area.
    • Represent Chiesi USA Medical Affairs at national, regional, and local scientific meetings.
    • Provide field-based medical affairs support for clinical research initiatives as needed.
  • Initiated trials or collaborative initiatives:
    • Deliver high-caliber medical education presentations in diverse settings.
    • Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence per Company policies.
    • Participate in internal therapeutic advisory groups.
    • Partner with business partners to align and optimize the customer experience in the region.
  • Therapeutic Support, Internal Collaboration and Project Work:
    • Lead and support internal medical projects aligned to development plans.
    • Support cross-functional projects and integrate medical input.
    • Contribute to publication planning, clinical research, medical education materials, and internal training.
    • Contribute to monthly medical meetings including journal clubs and team meetings.
    • Support new team members through mentoring and onboarding activities.
  • Administrative Work:
    • Accurate and timely documentation of field activities, expense reporting, and administrative reports.
    • Complete required training on time, including assessments.
    • Maintain high level of expertise in the assigned therapeutic areas and maintain professional licenses/certifications.
Experience Required
  • 5+ years of MSL experience; 3–5 years in PH and/or ILD-PH is required.
  • Prior launch experience in pulmonary hypertension is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to build and leverage strategic internal and external relationships to identify opportunities and partnerships to improve care for providers and patients.
  • Ability to work effectively on diverse, multi-disciplinary teams and demonstrate prioritization and execution in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong self-awareness, growth mindset, flexibility, and resilience.
  • Demonstrated scientific and clinical expertise in PH/ILD-PH, including clinical, pharmacoeconomic, real-world evidence knowledge and business acumen.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to respectfully challenge key opinion leaders and HCPs while listening with curiosity and asking insightful questions.
  • Diplomacy in stating expert opinions while upholding evidence-based positions; strong stakeholder relationships with internal and external customers.
Education

Completion of a graduate-level degree (Pharm

D, MD, DO, DNP, PhD, MSN, MS, or equivalent healthcare professional degree) with relevant clinical experience.
