The County of San Diego is accepting applications for the position of SENIOR CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
. Salary: $ annual base pay. Future salary increases are planned as follows:
June 2026 – 5.57% increase to base pay (3.5% Across-the-Board + 2.07% Market Adjustment Increase);
June 2027 – 5.07% increase to base pay (3% Across-the-Board + 2.07% Market Adjustment Increase).
There are current vacancies for the Health and Human Services Agency's (HHSA) Behavioral Health Services (BHS), Juvenile Forensic Services and Child Welfare Services, and Edgemoor Skilled Nursing Facility. A list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
BHS, Juvenile Forensic Services position will be based in one of several juvenile detention facilities. Senior Clinical Psychologists perform critical psychological services and a wide variety of professional work such as psychological assessments, evaluations, crisis intervention, and psychotherapy for youth and adolescents in probation facilities. Incumbents are licensed clinical psychologists who provide individual and group therapy, perform clinical duties, and may coordinate and oversee the training of psychology interns.
Child Welfare Services position will be co-located in regional offices with child welfare social workers and staff. Clinical psychologists assigned to Child Welfare Services will perform a broad range of professional work including case consultations, evaluations, crisis intervention, and support of staff. Positions in this class are licensed clinical psychologists or licensed clinical social workers providing guidance regarding mental health, secondary traumatic stress, and related issues under the guidance of a managing clinical psychologist.
Edgemoor psychologist position is a full-time, on-site role serving 192 residents in a distinct-part skilled nursing facility. Job duties include individual psychotherapy, capacity evaluation, behavioral care planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, group therapy, and integration with other disciplines to provide a therapeutic milieu for patients with complex medical, psychiatric, and psychosocial conditions. Ability to perform neuropsychological testing is a plus. The role also involves setting and writing policies and procedures, chairing the Quality of Life Committee, attending the Quality Council Committee, and supervising the Social Work Department (5 staff).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSQualified candidates must possess:

Candidates must be licensed by the State of California as a Psychologist. Employees outside California whose education and experience are sufficient to gain admission to the licensing examination shall have two (2) years from the date of employment in California to become licensed. A valid National Provider Identification Number (NPI) is required at time of employment.
