The RN will provide total patient care for the Emergency Department Inpatient population (admitted patients in the emergency room) and Observation, which involves three levels of care: IMU, Telemetry, and Med Surg. The role has a heavy focus on oncology, surgical oncology, and bone marrow transplant. The RN must be qualified to care for the highest level of care, IMU, and have special training in critical care, oncology concepts, surgery, and medicine.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire, with commitment to obtain ART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent acute care RN experience at the IMU level of care or higher acuity.
  • Ability to function in a fast‑paced team environment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN/MSN.
  • Recent acute care IMU/PCU or ICU, or ED Inpatient (EDIP) experience.
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
  • Per diem shift requirement: average of 1 shift per week, available for 1 weekend shift every 4 weeks and 1 major holiday. This is subject to change based on department needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $131,335 - $184,078 (prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).

Hourly Equivalent: $62.90 - $88.16.

The hiring pay scale referenced in the posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The annual full pay range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements.

If employed by the University of California, compliance with the Policy on Vaccination Programs is required. Federal, state, or local public health directives may impose additional requirements.

Life‑support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands‑on practice and in‑person skills assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
