Recreational Therapist

RECREATIONAL THERAPIST – Inpatient Health Services

We have immediate openings for Recreational Therapist in San Diego County’s Inpatient Health Services. Interviews will be held on Thursdays. Job offers will follow promptly.

These therapists assess clients across mental health, geriatric, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and detention facilities, plan and implement diverse therapeutic groups, and evaluate treatment/recreational goals. Certification by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) may be required for certain roles.

• Assess clients, including children and incarcerated persons, in mental health, geriatric, rehabilitation, skilled nursing and detention facilities.
• Plan and implement diverse therapeutic groups and individualized recreation therapy.
• Document treatment plans, progress, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams.
• Coordinate services with outside agencies for socialization sessions and peer support.

• Certified or eligible for certification as a Recreational Therapist with the California Board of Recreation Therapy Certification (CBRTC), or the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
• Experience in mental health treatment group or inpatient residential treatment settings.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and plan recreational curriculum.
• Excellent documentation and verbal communication skills.

• Interview to be scheduled on Thursdays; job offer soon after.
• Pre‑employment medical screening approximately 3 days after background investigation.
• Start date based on completion of medical screening and other hiring steps.
