Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Sharp Memorial - Night Shift - Per Diem

Hours: Variable start, variable end (8/40 – 8 hour shift).
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.
On-Call: No.
Pay Range: $54,670 – $70,540 – $79,000
Provides the technical knowledge, expertise and judgment required to support the Sharp Health Care (SHC) mission and scope of laboratory services.
Required Qualifications- Other Education required for CA State CLS or CLS specialty.
- California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist license – CA Department of Public Health OR California Clinical Chemist Scientist License – CA Department of Public Health OR California Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License – CA Department of Public Health OR California Clinical Toxicologist Scientist License – CA Department of Public Health OR California Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist License – CA Department of Public Health OR California Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist License – CA Department of Public Health OR California Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist License – CA Department of Public Health – REQUIRED
- Experience in a clinical laboratory as a CLS.
- The CLS license must be respective to the department’s assigned area.
ASCP preferred.
Essential Functions- Completes testing procedures using written policies and procedures; identifies issues and submits revisions; performs new procedures and policies within acceptable training intervals; meets or exceeds department turnaround time goals; documents activities and results consistently and thoroughly; proofreads and double checks own work to achieve zero defects; reviews operational reports for clerical and analytical errors and makes corrections as necessary; evaluates data for accuracy and investigates questionable findings;
performs pre-analytical and analytical procedures; demonstrates emotional intelligence, critical thinking and logical decision making under stress; acts as key resource for training, development and competency assessment; provides additional duties to meet operational needs; participates in writing and revision of policies and procedures. - Utilizes equipment and analyzers per manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; facilitates issue resolution; reports and resolves equipment and reagent issues in a timely manner; removes defective equipment; follows through on problem resolution and validates performance post-repair; participates in analyzer and test methodology evaluation and selection; demonstrates competency in tool applications; performs preventive and corrective maintenance; manages inventory and evaluates consumables to prevent shortages.
- Coordinates and completes processes to meet quality standards; represents laboratory department in committees, taskforces and work groups; communicates using SBAR and Closed Loop; supervises medical lab technicians, certified phlebotomy technicians and laboratory assistants; promotes teamwork; completes and assesses QC performance; validates daily position tasks; identifies errors and follows through with investigation, correction and notification; demonstrates self-improvement; performs shift lead duties as necessary;
receives and provides feedback; participates in regulatory and safety compliance activities.
