* Job Description:
**** Objective:
** The Medical Assistant supports physicians, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, and staff in coordinating the needs of patients.
** Responsibilities/
Essential Functions:
*** Ensure patient satisfaction by providing excellent patients services. Addresses patients with a compassionate, friendly and caring attitude.
* Rooms patients, accurately collect and records patients’ vital statistics, allergies, medications and concerns.
* Prepares exam rooms, stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
* Effectively assists with prescriptions and authorizing drug refill requests.
* Triage messages, routes and relays information to staff, providers, and patients in a timely manner.
* Maintains detailed notes in patients’ electronic records.
* Maintains a high level of confidentiality for patients in accordance to HIPAA standards.
* Effectively maintains a professional demeanor with patients, staff, and physicians at all times.
* Back up infusion room medical assistant duties.
* Effectively performs other duties as assigned
Pay range for this position is $21.00-$24.00 per hour.
** Experience, Qualifications, Education
*** High School Diploma or equivalent required
* Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited education institution
* Current CPR certification required
* California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) license
* Four years of work experience in venipuncture
* Must comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and office policies and protocols.
* Knowledge of computer/telephony support, preferably in a health care environment
* Strong customer service background, preferably in health care environment
* Excellent verbal communication skills
* Competence with computer processing functions and other standard office equipment
* Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
* Ability to calmly and professionally resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tact
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Strong organizational skills
** Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
*** Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in computer processing functions and other standard office equipment.
* Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
* Ability to calmly and professionally resolve issues with diplomacy and tact.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Visual acuity to read a computer screen and paper documents; close and distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
* Hearing acuity to converse with staff and customers in person and by phone.
* ability to stoop, bend, kneel, reach with hands, and lift and move 10 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 25 pounds occasionally; ability to sit for hours at a time.
