Depending on experience and licensure of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Pharmacy Technician level II or level III.

DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, the Outpatient Pharmacy Technician II / III performs a full range of duties in a retail pharmacy setting and is able to perform all general tasks in all areas of the pharmacy. They will assist the pharmacist in preparation of medications for patient use according to established procedures; facilitate distribution of medications including delivery of medications to the patient's bedside (Med-2-Bed program);

perform computer order entry, record keeping, and billing functions; maintain inventory levels; and perform other duties as assigned. Will perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in different pharmacy areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician required for Pharmacy Technician III.
  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy required for both Pharmacy Technician II/III.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of retail experience for Pharmacy Technician II.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of retail experience for Pharmacy Technician III.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
  • Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Meds To Beds Program or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years experience with medication ordering and inventory management or equivalent.
  • 340b regulatory knowledge and background.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and able to promote a justifiable position.
  • Flexible to address any pharmacy need that may arise, especially those that are unexpected or sudden.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $54,998 - $68,403 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.34 - $32.76

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
