Responsibilities
  • Understand the physics of ultrasound and demonstrate advanced knowledge of echo cardiographic procedures, cardiac anatomy and physiology with an understanding of cardiac abnormalities and disease processes.
  • Perform 3D echocardiography and strain imaging; apply advanced cardiac ultrasound imaging techniques as assigned or per protocol.
  • Follow established imaging protocols and modify examinations to ensure complete, accurate, high-quality cardiac echo information is obtained.
  • Perform diagnostic recordings, accurate measurements and calculations of echocardiography images and Doppler hemodynamic data (with or without ultrasound enhancement agents).
  • Identify patients requiring enhancement agents, place peripheral IV catheters, and administer ultrasound enhancement agents as policy allows.
  • Perform other non-invasive cardiovascular tests including ECG, ambulatory ECG, blood pressures, ambulatory blood pressures, and treadmill stress tests as needed.
  • Contribute to work organization and scheduling as a member of a self-directed work team.
  • Participate in training of cardiac sonographers, students, residents and fellows in echocardiography; participate in personnel selection and review studies; train and direct junior sonographers in new techniques under supervision.
  • Work independently and prioritize tasks; maintain positive communication and listening skills.
  • Float to labs in other clinic locations as needed and work various shifts, including nights and weekends; may need to take call after hours and/or on weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Medical Sonography program or equivalent experience; CAAHEP-accredited program preferred.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or registry eligible; if eligible, must obtain RDCS within 6 months of hire.
  • Certification as RDCS (if already credentialed).
  • Basic and Advanced certifications (e.g., BART or BLS) at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months of hire date.
  • Four years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in sonography.
  • Recent hospital experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Experience with congenital heart disease.
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • On-call capability including weekends when required.
  • Employment is subject to criminal background check and pre-employment screening.
Pay Transparency and Benefits

Pay Transparency Act:
Annual Full Pay Range: $136,743 - $170,068 (will be prorated if appointment percentage < 100%);
Hourly: $65.49 - $81.45.

Factors in determining compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business needs.
