Responsibilities

Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs work requiring knowledge and training in patient care within applicable California laws and Joint Commission regulations. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Scheduling of patient appointments and related system screens
  • Accurate billing
  • Environmental care functions; equipment and supply management; cleaning and disinfecting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize demands, and work in a team environment
  • Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months
  • Minimum of one year of previous back office Medical Assistant experience within the past twelve months
  • Back office Medical Assistant experience in a multi-specialty and/or multi-provider clinic
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Strong customer service experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Epic, Cadence, and Epic Phoenix
  • Experience caring for solid organ transplant patients
  • Experience with UCSD systems, policies, and procedures
  • Bilingual:
    English/Spanish
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical
Compensation and Policies

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $52,847 - $65,772 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.31 - $31.50

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The stated pay range may be broader due to internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements where applicable.

If employed by the University of California, you will be required to comply with vaccination policies. Life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) if applicable, must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
