Radiology Tech – Per Diem, Hillcrest – 137956

Location:

Hillcrest, UC San Diego Health.

Work Schedule:

Variable, 10‑hour shifts. Appointment Type:
Per Diem (20%). Total Openings: 3.

Role Overview

Working under general supervision, the incumbent performs routine to complex radiographic and fluoroscopic exams using fixed and portable imaging equipment throughout General Diagnostic Radiology, in accordance with established guidelines and protocols. Requires advanced knowledge of radiologic technology. Acts as a diagnostic subject matter expert and assists other technologists as needed. Demonstrates and applies knowledge of principles of radiation safety.

Prepares and positions patients for procedure using established protocols to achieve the highest quality image. Follows radiologist‑specified protocols, enters complex data into the computer system, and reviews, verifies, and evaluates images and radiographs to ensure both technical and image quality. Ensures compliance with related policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Demonstrates effective communication and conflict‑resolution techniques with patients, coworkers, physicians, and all other health‑care members.

Other duties as assigned.

Depending on experience, license and certifications of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Rad Tech or Sr Rad Tech level.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Recent graduate of a school of radiologic technology.
  • California Radiology Technologist of Radiography (CRT‑R).
  • California Radiology Technologist of Fluoroscopy (CRT‑F) within six (6) months of hire, must possess to be considered for Sr. Rad tech.
  • Registered Technologist for Radiography issued by ARRT (R.T(R)(ARRT)).
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Less than 18 months of recent experience in a similar role and setting or a new graduate of an approved radiologic technology program (Rad Tech) OR more than 18 months of experience (Sr. Rad Tech).
  • Must possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of experience in a similar role and setting.
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, on‑call, and some overtime if necessary for unexpected staffing issues.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $89,241 – $110,894 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).
Hourly Equivalent: $42.74 – $53.11.
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The hiring pay scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The annual full pay range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
