Unifeye Vision Partners is currently hiring for a Dispensing Optician
, La Jolla - San Diego, CA.

Dispensing Opticians sell eyeglasses and contacts according to written optical prescriptions. They recommend appropriate lens materials and designs based on patient needs and preferences, advise patients on frame design, fit and performance, and ensure accurate and complete orders.

• Must have knowledge of optical terminology, eyewear measurements, and vision insurance pricing and knowledge.
• Understand eye disease and how it can affect vision.
• Use optical tools including the lensometer and follow the optical quality checklist for new eyewear arrivals.
• Teach contact lens wearers how to insert, remove, and care for contacts.
• Maintain knowledge of current trends in eyewear and modern optometric care.
• Provide excellent customer service and properly fit frames; take necessary measurements; advise patients on beneficial lens options.
• Interpret, analyze, and fill ophthalmic and optometric prescriptions; educate patients regarding their vision prescription and options.
• Maintain quality, honesty, and patient service; work with other departments to complete operational tasks.
• Order products for stock dispensary within budget; obtain approval on inventory purchases from clinic manager.
• Complete all patient orders (frames, lenses, and contact lenses); handle returns of defective or unused products; provide repairs and adjustments for all frames.
• Review jobs for accuracy and check-in lab work; contact patients when orders are ready for pickup.
• Complete nightly deposits.

Education and/or

Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Two to five years of experience as a Dispensing Optician required. ABOC preferred. NCLE preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Pay Range: $21.00 - $35.00
