Overview
Under general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and/or Supervisor, the Pharmacy Technician III position assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures; assists in the distribution of medications, record keeping, and billing functions; maintains inventory levels; performs assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned areas.
The Pharmacy Technician III may also assist the pharmacist in performing best possible medication histories for patients. Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Pharm Tech II or Pharm Tech III.
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures.
- Distribute medications, maintain records, and support billing functions.
- Maintain inventory levels and perform assigned operational duties in the scheduled area.
- Assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned areas.
- Assist in performing best possible medication histories for patients, depending on experience and scope of practice.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by PTCB. (Pharm Tech
3) - Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
- Two to five (2
- 5) years of previous inpatient Pharmacy Technician experience. - Knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
- Strong computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information.
- Ability to manage assigned workload within deadlines.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Prior experience with IV sterile compounding preparation.
- Three (3) years of experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Pay Transparency Act:
Annual Full Pay Range: $67,756 - $84,209 (will be prorated if appointment percentage < 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $32.45 - $40.33. These figures may vary by experience, licensure, and internal policies. - If employed by the University of California, compliance with vaccination programs may be required. Hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment may be required for life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.).

Base pay range: $29.11/hr - $40.33/hr pay transparency information is provided in the posting with an annual full pay range of $67,756 - $84,209 (prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%).
