Land Use Technician II
The County of San Diego announces a career opportunity for a Land Use Technician II in Planning & Development Services (PDS). The role performs para‑professional and technical work to provide information on laws, codes, ordinances and requirements related to the construction and use of structures and land use.
Hiring Timeline & Dates- First set of interviews will take place the week of February 16, 2026.
- Job offer and background process will begin soon after interviews.
- Pre‑employment medical screening approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated start date based on successful completion of medical screening or other agreed date.
- Three (3) years of full‑time paid technical experience in land use, architecture, zoning, planning, building inspection, surveying, construction, engineering, environmental studies or a closely related field.
- Substitute qualification: two (2) years or 50 units of coursework in an accredited U.S. college or university or a certified foreign studies equivalency in urban planning, geography, building inspection, construction technology, environmental studies, engineering, mathematics or a closely related field can be used to substitute for two (2) years of the experience requirement.
Prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre‑employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.
EvaluationQualified applicants will be placed on a six‑month eligible list based on scores received during evaluation of employment and supplemental application information.
