Overview
The County of San Diego Announces An Outstanding Career Opportunity: LAND USE TECHNICIAN II. First set of interviews will take place the week of February 16, 2026. Planning & Development Services (PDS) strives to balance community, economic and environmental interests to ensure the highest quality of life for the public of San Diego County.
The Land Use Technician II will perform para-professional and technical work in providing information to members of the public, representatives of outside agencies, and County employees regarding laws, codes, ordinances, and requirements that apply to the construction and use of structures and land use.
Hiring Timelines & Dates- Job Offer and Background Process will begin soon after interviews.

Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening. - Pre-employment Medical Screening:
Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results. - Anticipated
Start Date:
Start date based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications- Three (3) years of full-time paid technical experience in land use, architecture, zoning, planning, building inspection, surveying, construction, engineering, environmental studies, or a closely related field.
- The successful completion of two (2) years or 50 units of coursework offered by an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in urban planning, geography, building inspection, construction technology, environmental studies, engineering, mathematics, or a closely related field, can be used to substitute for two (2) years of the experience requirement listed above.
