Job Description & How to Apply Below

Our client is a well-capitalized real estate investment firm with a long-standing presence in the commercial real estate space and a track record of executing thoughtful, fundamentals-driven investment strategies. Its portfolio consists of a diverse set of commercial assets across select U.S. markets.

The firm operates with a lean, vertically integrated platform that brings together investment, asset management, leasing, and property operations under one roof. This integrated approach allows for active asset-level decision-making, close coordination with operating partners, and hands-on execution of business plans. The portfolio spans a range of commercial asset types and investment profiles, offering exposure to both stabilized properties and more complex value-creation initiatives.

Position

The Asset Manager will oversee the performance and execution of business plans for a national portfolio of retail assets, with responsibility for driving operating results and long-term value. The role will involve active management of asset-level strategy, including leasing oversight, capital planning, and coordination with property management and other operating partners to ensure alignment with investment objectives.

Responsibilities include monitoring financial performance, leading budgeting and forecasting processes, evaluating leasing and capital initiatives, and identifying opportunities to enhance NOI and manage risk. The Asset Manager will work cross-functionally to address asset-level challenges and support portfolio-wide strategy across a mix of stabilized and transitional retail properties.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of asset-level strategies for newly acquired and existing properties, translating investment theses into actionable business plans that drive performance and long-term value.
  • Oversee annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes, and prepare regular performance updates, cash flow reporting, and capital requirements for internal stakeholders and investors.
  • Provide strategic direction for a portfolio of retail assets, working collaboratively with internal teams and third-party partners to implement leasing, operational, and capital initiatives.
  • Manage lender-related requirements, including review of compliance reporting, coordination of inspections, monitoring of covenants, and oversight of draw requests in partnership with finance and accounting.
  • Perform financial analysis to evaluate refinancing, recapitalization, and disposition opportunities in support of hold and sell decision-making.
  • Collaborate with leasing teams to evaluate and structure transactions that balance rental growth, lease term, credit quality, and capital investment.
  • Analyze market conditions and asset-level dynamics, including tenant performance, competitive supply, and trade area trends, to inform repositioning and value creation strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, business, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate asset management, with direct responsibility for retail assets.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and asset-level performance analysis.
  • Proficiency with Yardi or similar property and financial management systems.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with leasing, property management, and external partners to execute business plans.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to properties and markets across the United States.

Personal Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex financial and operational issues.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple assets and priorities simultaneously.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across functions and present clearly to senior stakeholders.
  • Proactive, self-directed professional with a hands-on approach and strong sense of ownership.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance risk, return, and execution.
  • Adaptable and flexible, comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic investment environment.
