Personal Financial Counselor – ARNG San Diego, CA

Magellan Federal invites applications for the Personal Financial Counselor position located at military installations in San Diego. This role delivers comprehensive personal‑financial services to active‑duty members and their families.

Overview

As a Personal Financial Counselor you will:

Provide one‑on‑one financial counseling and management services directly to service members and families.
Help service members develop spending plans for extended absences and career events.
Create and distribute informational financial materials.
Coordinate, publicize, and run personal‑financial‑management classes and workshops covering military lifecycle topics.
Offer virtual counseling and other electronic communications when authorized.
Manage duty‑to‑warn situations and communicate with leadership to report trends and issues.
Participate in regular supervision, training, and quality‑improvement activities.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Alternatively, an associate degree plus 4 years of relevant experience or a high‑school diploma plus 6 years of relevant experience.

At least 3 years of financial counseling experience.

U.S. citizenship; fluent in English; bilingual Spanish (if required).

Ability to obtain a Tier 2 investigation and pass the Congressional–mandated Disclosure for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.

Certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
