Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in San Diego, California. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong leadership skills and a solid background in finance and accounting. The Controller will oversee key financial processes while ensuring compliance, managing risks, and driving profitability.

Responsibilities:

- Supervise financial accounting and reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate month-end close procedures.

- Manage accounting for physical commodities, including inventory valuation, cost allocation, and balance sheet reconciliation.

- Oversee accounting and reconciliation of futures, options, and hedging instruments while coordinating with risk management teams.

- Implement and maintain robust internal controls across trading, credit exposure, and cash forecasting.

- Lead internal and external audits, coordinating with auditors and stakeholders to ensure compliance.

- Monitor adherence to contractual agreements with suppliers and customers, maintaining operational integrity.

- Support the preparation and analysis of budgets, forecasts, and financial variances for trading and operational activities.

- Train and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and growth.

- Collaborate with senior management to provide analytical insights and drive strategic decisions. Requirements - Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance, controlling, or accounting roles; candidates with slightly less experience may be considered.

- Strong expertise in risk management, hedging strategies, and profit and loss analysis.

- Proficiency in financial controlling and reporting processes.

- Demonstrated experience working with trading systems and tools.

- Advanced analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to lead and manage teams effectively.

- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with traders and senior management.

- Knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese is preferred but not required.

- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a commercially minded approach to balancing risk and business agility.
