Basic Function and Scope of the Position

This position, under the Facilities organization, is based at the Illumina San Diego HQ campus with remote responsibilities as assigned at other sites. The role supports operational excellence through strong financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting, while ensuring compliance with corporate policies and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include managing financial systems, supporting audits, and providing actionable insights to drive cost efficiency and strategic decision‑making.

Tasks

and Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage complex financial spreadsheets, ensuring accurate data analysis to identify trends, variances, and actionable conclusions.
  • Oversee invoices and accounts payable, applying global purchasing policies and ensuring compliance with financial controls.
  • Develop annual budgets and manage accrual processes by analyzing historical results, performing variance analysis, identifying trends, and recommending improvements.
  • Track, manage, and report on annual budgets, purchase orders, and invoicing, ensuring accurate financial reporting to functional budget owners
  • Provide advanced metric reporting on departmental spending, highlighting discrepancies and escalating issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with Regional Procurement on supplier updates including but not limited to onboarding, contracts, purchase order process and updates ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Support site and regional projects with financial oversight, partnering with Finance and Facilities to monitor spending and budget impacts.
  • Contribute to OpEx and Cap Ex budget creation, providing substantial input and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Analyze and interpret financial aspects of contracts, including SOWs, and amendments, to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Manage time effectively to meet financial reporting deadlines and prioritize workload for critical accounting tasks adapting to changing financial requirements, expediting activities to ensure timely completion of budgetary and invoicing processes.
  • Lead and collaborate with internal and external partners, ensuring financial compliance and cost‑effective delivery of operational and site services.
  • Identify opportunities for financial process improvements, recommending new procedures and driving optimization initiatives.
  • Maintain expert understanding of technologies used in financial and operational processes to enhance reporting and analysis.

Preferred Educational and Experience Background
  • Requires bachelor’s degree or related experience
  • Must have 2-5 years of related experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in SAP, Ariba and Power Apps a plus
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
  • Able to do physical labor for periods of time.
  • Confidence to take delegated tasks and ask questions for clarification

The estimated base salary range for the Facilities Finance Specialist role based in the United States of America is: $74,900 - $112,300.
