SUMMARYReporting to the CFO, the VP of Finance will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of the organization. Responsible for overseeing the financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate financial data to support decision-making within the team. This position requires strong financial expertise, attention to detail, and communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIESKey Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management based on the analysis of financial data.
- Establish regular reporting packages to be delivered to various audiences, including bank and operating partners.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop and manage the annual budget for the team.
- Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Create financial forecasts to assist in long-term planning and resource allocation.
- Build & monitor cash flow forecasts, work with ownership to manage capital requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns and other regulatory filings.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the team's financial assets.
- Oversee & manage controls over day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense management.
- Supervise the finance team and provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
- Conduct financial analysis and variance reporting to assist with evaluation of operational initiatives
- Assess the financial feasibility of different projects and proposals.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual financial audits.
- Ensure all audit findings are addressed promptly and accurately.
- Contribute to the development of the team's financial strategy and goals.
- Provide recommendations for improving financial performance and efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field;
- MBA or CPA certification is a plus.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in financial management and accounting, with experience in sports management or entertainment industry finance preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (Net Suite preferred).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Passion for soccer and a good understanding of MLS operations is a plus.
