Federal Tax Manager – Global Compliance and Reporting – Los Angeles
EY is seeking a Federal Tax Manager to support client engagements, forecast taxes, provide guidance, manage a team, and partner across service lines. Locations:
Los Angeles, Irvine, San Diego, Las Vegas.
- Prepare and audit income tax provisions.
- Assist with income tax filings and consult on planning opportunities.
- Coach and develop staff on engagement teams.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day interactions with clients and review staff work product.
- Drive service delivery, manage engagement economics and timelines.
- Identify and resolve tax technical issues and share insights to improve efficiency.
- Partner with team members to identify new opportunities across service lines.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge on trends, developments and technical authorities.
- Provide domestic federal tax advice tailored to client needs.
- Stay current with tax legislation changes affecting planning.
- Lead high‑performing teams and share best practices.
- Develop technical and soft skills of junior colleagues.
- Build relationships internally and externally.
- Prepare practical recommendations on complex tax issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or graduate degree in Tax or Law with ~5 years of related experience.
- CPA certification or licensed attorney status.
- Background in tax compliance and accounting for income tax and broad U.S. income tax knowledge.
- Experience managing budgets and projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and data‑mining tools.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and integrate directly into client teams.
- Willingness to travel as needed and work in a hybrid environment.
- Proven record in a professional services environment.
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Adaptability to work with both internal and client team members.
- Comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
- Base salary range (U.S. all geo): $90,300 – $165,400; higher ranges for NYC, Washington, California.
