SAIC is seeking a SATCOM Systems Engineer to support one of our Navy programs located in San Diego, CA. The role is primarily off‑site or remote, yet requires occasional on‑site presence for tasks needing SIPR access, classified meetings, or taskers. This position is not suitable for solo work; collaboration within an established team is essential. Up to 5% of travel may be required.

• Provide operations analysis and effectiveness engineering for Commercial Satellite Communications solutions (COMSATCOM) and CBSP inclusive of the wider Satellite Terminal transportable Non‑Geostationary (STtNG) efforts.
• Recommend strategic approaches and end‑to‑end C4I capabilities to meet customer needs; develop accurate and justifiable cost estimates for recommended solutions.
• Analyze changes in system threat capabilities and their impact on terminal and satellite performance.
• Evaluate shore‑based solutions for the Navy Teleports and provide recommendations to leadership.
• Review vendor reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Analyze current COMSATCOM software planning tools and follow‑on proposed tools to verify support for Navy requirements.
• Recommend upgrades and enhancements to baseline software tools.
• Support reviews of Engineering Change Proposals and provide feedback to program leadership.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Operations Research and five (5) years or more of related experience.
• U.S. Citizen.
• Active Secret Clearance to start.
• SATCOM expertise, particularly in COMSATCOM, is top priority, taking precedence over general C4I systems engineering experience.
• Hands‑on experience with SATCOM systems and capabilities is advantageous; broader understanding of SATCOM systems engineering is most critical.
• Comprehensive understanding of the broader architectures of COMSATCOM/MILSATCOM frameworks—especially those involving pLEO, shore‑based systems, and terrestrial connectivity—is beneficial.
• Flexibility in required years of SATCOM experience; target is 8–10+ years, but 10+ years should not be excluded.
• Strong team‑oriented collaboration and communication skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong program/project management skills.
• Ability to self‑start, multitask in a fast‑paced environment, and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Target salary range: $120,001 – $160,000.
