As an Electrical Engineer Intern, you will work under the direction of an assigned mentor to develop and implement project deliverables. You will focus on the design and engineering of power, lighting, grounding/bonding, special systems; e.g., tel/data, security, fire alarm, raceway, cable tray and other electrical control and building support systems into the built work environment. Project work may include all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
CoreResponsibilities
- Typical tasks and deliverables include power load, illumination, short circuit, voltage drop calculations, basis of design reports, code evaluations, single line diagrams, plans, schedules, installation details, specifications, and coordination with manufacturers and construction trade partners. Tasks will include utilizing computer aided drafting and engineering software.
- Developing project documents (e.g., calculations, reports, construction drawings and specifications, etc.) for clients in coordination with regulatory bodies and industry standards.
- Assisting with development of conceptual designs and coordinating with the design team under direction of the project team lead.
- Coordinating with multiple disciplines and other internal and external team members (e.g., vendors, clients, and contractors).
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an accredited program.
- Available to work full-time during the internship period:
May–August 2026
. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note).
- Strong interest in the Food & Beverage or Life Sciences industries.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable insights.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and with internal and external stakeholders (vendors, clients, contractors).
- Eagerness to learn about the AEC industry and apply academic knowledge to real‑world engineering applications.
- Experience with power systems strongly preferred.
- Working towards Fundamentals of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit and 3D collaboration tools (Navisworks, BIM
360 Suite, Assemble). - Familiarity with industry‑specific regulations and standards within the AEC industry.
- Prior internship or co‑op experience in Electrical Engineering or related field.
