Position: Structural Engineer - Large Scale Commercial Buildings - HYBRID!

About The Opportunity

Highly respected structural engineering firm with decades of leadership is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer to join its San Diego office. This firm is recognized as a trusted partner for technically demanding projects across sectors such as healthcare, life science, hospitality, complex commercial, K-12, and higher education.

Location: San Diego, CA

Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid

Salary: 90‑130k + OT + Bonus

Experience Level: 5–10 years

What You’ll Do
  • Contribute to structural design and analysis of a wide range of building types, including hospitals, research labs, schools, and urban commercial developments
  • Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents tailored to project type and code requirements
  • Collaborate with architects, consultants, and internal project teams to develop innovative, buildable solutions
  • Participate in construction administration, site visits, and problem‑solving during the build process
  • Engage with permitting and regulatory processes, including HCAI compliance for healthcare projects
  • Grow into project leadership roles by taking ownership of technical execution, coordination, and client communication over time
What We’re Looking For
  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • 5–10 years of experience in structural building design, ideally with exposure to multiple building types or sectors
  • PE
  • Familiarity with design standards across healthcare (HCAI), education, and commercial sectors
  • Strong command of analysis tools such as RISA, ETABS, SAP
    2000, or RAM
  • Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD for structural documentation
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; client‑facing experience is a plus
  • Self‑motivated, curious, and ready to grow into a leadership track
  • U.S. work authorization required
