ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Create and maintain the project document control system. Review project specifications and drawings, in order to comply with the contract requirements and adhere to the procedures in the HDCCO Project Management Manual. Maintain record set of documents.
2. Review project team and subcontractor Requests for Information. Additionally, Project Engineer to generate new RFIs by understanding the contract documents and clarify the scope when needed. Prior to transmitting to the design team, review contract documents to confirm RFI is necessary and to format questions appropriately. Transmit to design team, maintain status logs, and manage RFI responsiveness. Ensure that RFI questions and responses are complete, reasonable, and appropriate given the contract documents and project status.
3. Review specifications for project submittal requirements and create project submittal log. Ensure subcontractors make timely submittals. Review subcontractor submittals for conformance with contract documents and review with Superintendent. Provide any markups required and transmit subcontractor submittals to design team, maintain status logs, and manage submittal responsiveness.
4. Create and track material procurement log regularly. Coordinate with subcontractors to expediate material as necessary.
5. Assist in management of project permit and deferred submittal permit processes.
6. Attend and document project meetings, including agendas and minutes, under the supervision of the Project Manager.
7. Provide material quantity takeoffs on the contract documents to Project Manager for change order estimating, billing review and other estimating duties.
8. Evaluate subcontractor pricing by reviewing scope changes in the contract documents, analyzing with historical and current market data.
9. Assist Superintendent in maintaining project schedule, developing filtered schedules and distributing information to subcontractors.
10. Generate coordination drawings for ease of installation and QA/QC in the field.
11. As needed by project, provide BIM coordination with MEP detailers for constructability, aesthetics and code compliance.
12. Review ongoing construction work and maintain project as-built drawings.
13. Assist Superintendent in tracking and inspecting material deliveries.
14. Bring field issues to the attention of Superintendent or Project Manager, as appropriate.
15. Take jobsite photos on a regular basis to document the construction progress.
16. Document and coordinate punch list work with the subcontractors.
17. Review project specifications and track project close-out requirements. Gather, review and compile all close-out documents such that they comply with all specification requirements.
18. Mentor and train Interns, new hire Project Engineers and Project Coordinators as appropriate for each project.
19. Demonstrate commitment to Zero Harm to People, Property, and Planet through own actions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Effective written and oral communication skills are required. Excellent organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks are critical. Basic computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office Suite are required. Fundamental understanding of construction, including estimating and scheduling is required. Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications is required. Familiarity with AutoCAD, and MS Project (or P6) are desired.
An ability to use independent judgement, be self-starting and interact well with others is extremely important.
Educational and experience requirements include: 4-year engineering, construction management or architectural degree or equivalent-related experience, plus experience/knowledge of construction and design.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position is performed in an office or jobsite trailer environment. Position may require traversing irregular or uneven project site to access jobsite office. Personnel must have the ability to lift and carry small packages and material items in their work.
