You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN(MATERIALS) in the FST ENGINEERING GROUP of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

• You will serve as a SENIOR MATERIALS ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Corrosion Division, with an emphasis on conventional coatings, specialty coatings, coating removal, corrosion control, fleet maintenance, and preservation.
• You will assist project managers and team leads in managing technical projects within the Materials Engineering Department.
• You will conduct site surveys and audits across the Navy enterprise to assess the adequacy of working conditions for processes such as organic paint and LO coating applications, preservation, and corrosion control.
• You will evaluate proper instrumentation, support equipment, environmental conditions, and safety precautions.
• You will manage a corrosion testing laboratory by coordinating efforts to maintain laboratory equipment, chemical inventory, HAZMAT and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for testing and ensuring tooling is calibrated as necessary.
• You will provide formal certification training, on-the-job skills training, and informal mentorship as necessary on corrosion and coatings processes.
