Our local R&D campus depends on reliable building systems and high-performing lab environments that enable engineers and researchers to innovate  are looking for a Lab Maintenance Technician skilled in both core building infrastructure and specialized lab systems. This role ensures uptime, safety, and performance across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems while also directly supporting critical R&D lab equipment and utilities.

In this role, you will support the full environment that enables Apple’s laboratory and R&D activities. Your work will support the labs where breakthroughs happen—spaces where ideas turn into prototypes and prototypes become products used by millions. You’ll join a facility operations team that values craftsmanship, precision, and a dedication to keeping Apple’s innovation environments running at their best.

• Perform PM and corrective maintenance on HVAC equipment including air handlers, CRAC units, VAVs, exhaust fans, and chilled/hot water systems.
• Support electrical distribution troubleshooting at the facility level, including lighting, panels, breakers, receptacles, and UPS-supported loads.
• Maintain plumbing and mechanical systems including pumps, water heaters, backflow devices, and hydronic equipment.
• Monitor and adjust BAS points, trends, alarms, and equipment operation to ensure optimized performance.
• Maintain and service lab utilities such as DI/RO water loops, compressed air, vacuum pumps, and process gas delivery systems.
• Support environmental chambers, ovens, incubation units, specialized testing equipment, and localized exhaust (LEVs/fume hoods).
• Assist with the installation, relocation, and commissioning of lab benches, test setups, and equipment requiring utility tie-ins.
• Conduct daily lab checks, system walk‑throughs, and maintain readiness across all R&D environments.

• Work closely with the Apple Maintenance Manager to prioritize tasks, review system issues, and coordinate vendor work.
• Ensure vendor compliance with Apple’s safety, cleanliness, and confidentiality standards.
• Maintain accurate work orders, service logs, equipment history, and compliance documentation in CMMS.
• Support facility improvement projects, energy efficiency upgrades, and lab reconfigurations.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and respond to after‑hours issues involving critical infrastructure.

• 3+ years of experience in facilities maintenance supporting HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Technical trade certificate education program, apprenticeship, military training, or equivalent work experience.
• Working knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and equipment monitoring platforms.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues at both the equipment level and the building systems level.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., work from ladders, and enter mechanical spaces safely.
• Must be comfortable working around energized equipment, utilities, and chemicals (with proper PPE).

• Effective at collaborating with engineering, research, and operations teams in fast‑paced R&D settings.
• Hands‑on experience with lab‑specific utilities such as DI/RO water, compressed air, vacuum systems, specialty gases, lab exhaust, and environmental chambers.
• Strong documentation habits and experience using CMMS systems for preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Familiarity with lab safety, chemical handling, LOTO procedures, PPE protocols, and EH&S standards.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical certifications are highly preferred.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $79,600 and $120,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
