The Associate Director of R&D will serve as a technical leader for new product development within the Infusion business.

• Act as the technical leader for complex medical device platform(s) and important sub-projects with responsibilities for large elements of the product development effort.
• Provide technical leadership, direct and indirect reports, with the ability to deep dive into technical issues.
• Implement best-in-class R&D tools, processes & standards within the development platform.
• Lead in the development of project plans and timelines for product delivery.
• Create Product Development goals linked with business priorities and traced to individual engineering responsibilities.
• Drive and lead innovative problem resolution at an accelerated pace.
• Work in a development environment which supports both organic and inorganic development opportunities.
• Lead and work with Functional Leaders to assign engineering disciplines to achieve platform goals.
• Mentor, develop and manage performance of talent assigned to the platform.
• Plan and administer yearly platform budget to ensure proper execution of deliverables aligned to business strategy.
• Collaborate with multi-functional engineering managers to ensure proper talent allocations throughout the year.

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering field (Mechanical, Systems, Physics, Electrical, Biomedical, Software).
• 10 years of growing responsibility in R&D technical engineering roles with experience in product development.
• Understanding of quality management systems.
• Regulated industry experience (FDA, Automotive, Industrial, etc).
• Experience with design for manufacturing, process validation and design transfer.
• Experience leading a team of multi-disciplinary engineers.
• Project management experience for sophisticated systems.
• Experience in a proven design process (e.g. DFSS) over multiple programs.

• Master s degree or PhD (Mechanical, Systems, Physics, Electrical, Biomedical, Software) + 5 years of industry experience, with extensive, successful experience in product development and a clear understanding of quality management systems.
• In Depth FDA experience.

BD prioritizes on-site collaboration to foster creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving in the fast-paced healthcare industry. For most roles, a minimum of 4 days in-office per week is preferred to maintain our culture, with flexibility where possible. Remote or field-based positions will have different arrangements indicated in the job posting.
