Overview

Accomplish the safe data collection and rewinding of AC/DC electric motors, generators, armatures, rotors, transformers, magnet and brake coils and related electrical components without supervision. Accomplish the verification of applicable rewinds by core loss, hi pot, phase balance, rotational direction, meg-ohm and similar testing without supervision. Accomplish the documentation of pre and post testing data without supervision. Perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

  • Demonstrate the ability to match mark while disassembling and reassembling equipment.
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of AC and DC power circuits.
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of Navy service motors (Type A and

    C), AC motors and DC motors.
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of electric motor troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of electrical measurements in electric motors.
  • Demonstrate a general understanding of NAVSEA Standard Items associated with Electric Motors (e.g. 009-15, 009-17, 009-33, 009-113).
  • Demonstrate the ability to burnout and strip existing windings on an electric motor.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manufacture winding coils from data collected during removal.
  • Demonstrate the ability to install and connect motor coils.
