Senior Civil Engineer, Transportation

Overview

EXP is seeking a talented Senior Civil Design Engineer, Transportation for the Southern California market. The candidate will perform diversified civil engineering work under direct supervision of a Director of Civil Engineering or Project Manager, and manage day-to-day activities of projects including interagency coordination, technical review, and other related activities. Duties include engineering design of highways, freeways, local streets and drainage systems in accordance with the Caltrans Highway Design Manual and local design criteria and codes.

Proficiency with Micro Station/InRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D is required. This role is based in Southern California (Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County or San Bernardino).

• Perform and lead engineering design tasks for roadway projects from conceptual design to final design.
• Develop civil design of multi-modal transportation projects per Caltrans, AASHTO and other applicable design standards.
• Develop plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
• Prepare final bid packages, design-build packages, and bridging documents.
• Possess excellent in-depth knowledge of roadway design software tools including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, and InRoads.
• Mentor and develop new engineers in transportation and roadway design.
• Lead and coordinate design activities between staff, subcontractors, and clients.
• Perform technical analyses and reviews of infrastructure projects.
• Manage day-to-day activities of projects including interagency coordination, technical review, and other related activities.
• Assist in preparing reports, plans, and studies, and in developing proposals and presentations.

• Bachelor of Science or higher in Engineering; preferably in civil, transportation or environmental engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• 7+ years of experience.
• Strong technical design background in highway and local roadway design and transportation engineering.
• Experience with local City and County agency standards and projects.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Basic knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

The pay range for this role is $130,000 to $170,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may differ by location due to cost of labor variations.
