ICC Soils Special Inspector

We are seeking a ICC Soils Special Inspector (CMT) to join our San Diego, CA team.

• Safety, having the proper PPE
• On-time daily reporting
• Ensure the right tools are available for the project
• Maintain certifications with ICC Soils Special Inspector and ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade 1
• Read and interpret drawings and provide technical knowledge with strong oral and written communication
• Prepare reports and maintain organized field files with field and laboratory data, reports and letters
• Verify adherence to current regulatory grading ordinances and building codes
• Confirm recommendations of the geotechnical engineer are implemented by the earthwork contractor
• Read and understand plans and specifications
• Communicate clearly with the direct supervisor and project manager about field operations, issues, and documentation
• Perform in-place density tests using the sand cone method
• Attend to daily project needs and maintain daily/weekly field paperwork and test sheets
• Flexibility to work outside normal business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays

• High school or GED required
• A valid driver’s license is required
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• At least 3 years of field and construction experience
• Must pass drug test, physical, background check and have satisfactory driving record
• Must be able to pass a background check for clearance to work on military installations and school projects

• ICC multi-carded, ACI
• Daily reporting done on iPad provided by company
• Very detailed on reports
• Able to read field plans
• Familiar with iOS, Meta Field, and Vantagepoint (Deltek) software a plus
• Knowledge of construction materials, concrete, aggregates, HMA, soils

• Ability to travel, at least 20% of the time
• Strong problem-solving skills

$28 - $35 hourly
