SUMMARYSupports the identification and documentation of shipboard labeling requirements. Assists in interpreting engineering drawings and contract requirements to maintain the label database and support label creation and installation efforts.
Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is required to ensure alignment, accuracy, and compliance of NASSCO's submittals to the Government. The person in this role is expected to work effectively with supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIESEnter and maintain label data in the central database.
Learn and apply applicable Navy labeling requirements and company procedures.
Support coordination with fabrication and installation teams.
Assists with the development of ILS schedules to meet contract requirements.
Plans, prioritizes, organizes, and monitors project tasks with Supervisor input.
Ability to learn how to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, schematics, 3D models, and related documents.
Collaborates with various subject-matter experts to prepare technical documentation.
Monitors transmittal of customer comments and pushes for expedient resolution with supervision.
Actively contributes to the department’s culture with a consistently positive attitude.
Works effectively in a group and cultivates a vibrant team environment with a focus on negotiation and consensus-building across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Completes all tasks within quality, budget, and schedule constraints.

QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in an engineering or logistics-related field preferred; two years of experience as a Logistics Engineer can substitute for degree requirements
Excellent English language skills, both oral and written
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software
Ability to learn how to interpret and use Engineering diagrams and 3D model
Effective communication skills that establish strong relationships with customers and their representatives. The goal of which is to resolve complex, and often unforeseen issues in the best interest of the program.
Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and translate them into clear, easy-to-understand content
Willingness to resolve complex technical issues while working with internal and external stakeholders, in accordance with contractual requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe essential functions of this role require work in both an office and industrial setting. The role requires prolonged periods of working in a stationary position, operating a computer, computer programs, and standard office equipment necessary to perform the essential duties. The role requires perceiving information and communicating effectively with others in person, online, and on the phone. The role also requires prolonged periods of working in indoor and outdoor industrial settings.
Must have the ability to safely access, navigate, and traverse the shipyard, construction areas, production areas, ships, and warehouses. Must be able to transit uneven surfaces, and be agile to move quickly to avoid hazards and respond to unexpected obstacles. Must be able to observe, detect, identify, perceive, recognize, and process information to remain alert and timely comply with all safety requirements.
Must be able to move, transport, and use equipment necessary to perform the essential duties. Duties performed on ships require ascending and descending stairs and ladders, transiting on scaffolding and at heights, transiting through manholes and other narrow, confined, or congested spaces. This position requires exposure to industrial areas which contain hazardous materials, loud noise (including sirens, horns, chipping, slamming, and hammering), dust, fumes, and exposure to weather.
