Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support a growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy assets across the United States and South America. This role will focus primarily on solar projects, supporting both operating assets and development‑stage projects, with exposure to medium and large‑scale sites.

The Senior Solar Engineer will serve as a key technical resource for operations and plant management teams, providing hands‑on expertise across electrical systems, power electronics, and solar plant performance. This position is based in Southern California with a hybrid work schedule (2 days per week in the San Diego office).

• Provide engineering support for operating solar assets ranging from 3–9 MW sites to mid‑sized (~27 MW) and large‑scale (>100 MW) facilities
• Support development and technical diligence for new solar projects, including:
• 3–9 MW projects in Chile
• ~50 MW and smaller projects in the United States
• Act as a subject matter expert for inverters, tracking systems, and balance‑of‑plant electrical components
• Support plant managers and operations teams by troubleshooting technical issues across solar facilities in the U.S. and Mexico

• Provide expertise related to substation equipment, power electronics, and grid interconnection components
• Interface with internal stakeholders and external partners, including EPCs and electrical contractors, as needed
• Review and support electrical designs, system performance, and operational improvements

• Support or interface with SCADA systems, monitoring platforms, and plant data systems
• Utilize databases and industrial networking protocols to support plant performance and diagnostics

• 6–10 years of relevant engineering experience
• Background in renewable energy, with a strong preference for solar (wind experience also acceptable)
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
• Solid understanding of utility‑scale solar systems, substation equipment, and power electronics
• Hands‑on, practical engineer comfortable supporting operating assets and resolving real‑world issues

• Experience supporting medium to large‑scale solar facilities
• Familiarity with SCADA systems, plant monitoring platforms, or control systems
• Exposure to databases and industrial networking protocols
• Experience working with EPCs or electrical contractors on renewable energy projects
