Senior Engineer – San Diego

Requirements Must have:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
• 8 years of experience in opto-mechanical design or precision mechanical design
• Proven comprehension of optical integration techniques and considerations
• Capability to assist, independently execute, and/or delegate work tasks
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities
• Proficiency in Solid Works (CAD & simulation), Matlab, and Zemax
• Previous experience in a consulting setting is preferred
• Quick adaptability to new concepts and accurate application in a dynamic environment
• Proactive problem-solving approach within a collaborative team
• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident)
• Willingness to work extended hours and travel as necessary

• Design and create assemblies and subsystems for various applications including remote sensing, communications, data analytics, and defense
• Develop innovative technical solutions that align with performance and durability requirements of hardware
• Prototype, construct, and evaluate flight hardware and ground support equipment (GSE) as needed
• Lead in system sizing and make informed decisions regarding component design and selection using foundational engineering principles
• Produce comprehensive engineering documentation such as CAD models, drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), reports, instructions, and presentations
• Provide expert advice to clients and team members on complex technical challenges
• Anticipate engineering needs and necessary adjustments to achieve technical objectives
• Work independently or alongside a multidisciplinary team on various projects
• Effectively manage multiple tasks and balance several projects simultaneously
• Mentor and provide support to junior engineers
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop project plans, proposals, and timelines
• Prepare and present slides in customer design reviews and meetings as needed
• Perform additional tasks as assigned
