The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Coordinator to support landside ground access elements of the Airport Development Program. This role may also include responsibilities across additional project areas, including airside components, as assigned. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in design and management of large, complex roadway or airport projects and thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
SummaryThe Senior Technical Coordinator supports large airport infrastructure projects, mainly focused on roadways and ground access. This role works closely with the Project Manager, designers, contractors, and stakeholders to review designs, coordinate meetings, track progress, and manage project documents. You will help prepare scopes of work, support budgets and schedules, review bid packages, RFIs, and submittals, and attend project and construction meetings.
You will also help ensure designs meet airport standards and support project close‑out and warranty work.
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required, along with 8–12 years of experience managing or designing large roadway projects (airport experience is a plus). You must have strong communication skills, be proactive and organized, and be comfortable working with multiple teams. Knowledge of CADD/BIM, strong skills in Microsoft Office and MS Project, and familiarity with project management software are expected.
A valid California driver’s license and the ability to pass TSA background and drug/alcohol screening are also required.
- Lead the Design Review process for all project deliverables, including coordination of stakeholder engagement, page‑turn reviews, comment collection, and reconciliation.
- Organize and conduct weekly design reviews, preparing presentations and collaborating with designers, consultants, and contractors.
- Participate in design and coordination meetings to identify project interfaces and ensure alignment across teams.
- Prepare detailed project‑specific scopes of work for consultants in collaboration with Authority staff.
- Review design documents for compliance with Airport Authority A&E requirements, guidelines, and standards.
- Compile, maintain, and organize all project records and documents, ensuring accuracy for internal departments and external agencies.
- Assist the Project Manager in developing budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Monitor design and construction progress to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Review bid documents, contract packages, design changes, submittals, and RFIs for completeness and conformance.
- Ensure timely processing of RFIs, submittals, field changes, and related documentation.
- Support bid package compilation, bid reviews, and provide award recommendations.
- Attend pre‑bid conferences, bid openings, pre‑construction meetings, safety reviews, and construction progress meetings.
- Address design‑related Operations & Maintenance concerns, ensuring maintainability and minimal operational disruption.
- Support project close‑out activities and coordinate warranty‑related work when necessary.
- Prepare and assist in delivering project data to Airport Authority leadership and external government agencies.
- Contribute to ADC’s mission by fostering positive collaboration with all project stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8–12 years of experience in design or management of large, complex roadway projects (required).
- Experience with airport ground access projects (highly desirable).
- Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical topics.
- Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Familiarity with CADD and BIM software (as required).

- Possession of a California Class C driver’s license and ability to meet SAN Fleet authorized driver criteria.
