Job DescriptionPosition: Engineering Technician V
SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician V to provide professional technical support for engineers designing, modifying, and repairing Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)/drones, including both multirotor and fixed‑wing. This is an on‑site role in San Diego, CA.
Job Duties- Design, modify, and repair UAS/drones (multirotor and fixed‑wing)
- Pilot UAS (multirotor and fixed‑wing)
- Use standard hand and shop tools (calipers, drills, cutters, vises, pliers, drill presses, sanders, and band saws)
- Apply CAD/CAM skills using Solid Works, Fusion 360, Onshape, or similar
- Operate 3D printers (create production files, operation, and maintenance)
- Operate CNC routers (create production files, fixturing, operation, and maintenance)
- Solder (wire splicing,HAV, P podamos) and assemble PCBs with PTH and SMD components
- Build and modify wire harnesses in confined spaces (e.g., within a UAS)
- Apply DC electronics knowledge
- Test and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
- Use electrical test equipment (multimeters, power supplies, bench DC loads)
- Work with vendors to procure parts
- Obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
- Lift >50 lb
- U.S. citizen
- Practical knowledge of science and engineering principles
- Experience with electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment
- Aviation electronics experience or equivalent
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel) plist(focus)
- Travel domestically, internationally (~25 %) and aboard naval vessels (1‑10 days) as needed
- Read wiring diagrams and assemble unmanned vehicles
- Obtain minimum Secret level security clearance رو
- Radio frequency (RF) communication knowledge
- Programming in C, Arduino, Python, or Linux
- Strong organizational skills (digital and physical)
- Hardware version control experience
- Tow large trailers
- Create assembly documentation for new hardware devices
- Migrate equipment internationally (logistics planning)
